About the project and its founder

Freedom is in the Mind was founded in 2017 by aspiring forensic hope psychologist, David Adlington-Rivers, and began with ‘Freedom is in the Mind’, a self-help book for people in prison. This documented his early ideas and research on how hope could transform lives for people in prison. David’s research continues today as a Postdoctorate Researcher at Durham University. He is passionate about prison and probation reform, and has written articles on hope for The Probation Institute and the Prison Service Journal. He has also attended conferences to speak about his work, and is available for any similar opportunities to further this important area of forensic-positive psychology.
